Welcome! We are so excited to partner with you on this education journey. We are here to serve you and your family’s needs, all in accordance with the Lord directing us to do what He has called us to do; shepherd and instruct our children! We are happy you have decided to lock arms with us and look forward to getting to know you and your family. We not only offer academic excellence but extra-curricular opportunities such as sports, field trips, retreats, high school graduation ceremonies, transcripts, as well as college preparatory level courses that your children have the ability to participate in!
We are fully accredited by the state of Maryland as a homeschool umbrella. We offer an experienced homeschool veteran of eighteen years as our Administrator who will oversee the process to provide guidance throughout your education journey. The Administrator will be your liaison between the academy and your family. This individual will meet with you and guide you through the enrollment and interview process, as well as complete your initial intake and review during the school year.
Each family will be required to maintain a “portfolio” of samples or other written documentation of each child’s work for EACH subject covered during the school year. This must be kept neat and orderly as well as dated. The MANDATORY subjects required by the state must be thoroughly and consistently taught. Each child will have their own portfolio and complete description of materials used and all subjects covered. You can certainly add electives and any other educational activities as well, but they CANNOT be used in place of state-required subjects.
Parents must agree to an in-person meeting in their home or a mutually agreed upon location before becoming a part of the umbrella group. Your initial visit will be to discuss your education plan for the year, as well as a review of your curriculum to be used. We require a specific list of each subject’s desired curriculum and examples of each textbook or materials that MUST be PREAPPROVED to be considered for acceptance. We do this to maintain academic excellence and match the rigor of what the academy requires for each student.
Please make sure to maintain a daily or weekly calendar of hours, dates, etc., of all learning and maintain accurate attendance to adhere to state guidelines of 180 days.
You will be given review forms, and they MUST be used and filled out legibly to maintain state regulations. Please don’t leave blank spaces or “unsure” spaces as this will delay the review being completed in a timely manner. We ask that these forms, if handwritten, be in black or blue ink ONLY! No pencils or colored inks, please.
